- Bugrip® is the name of Icebug's traction technology for the most slippery conditions. The Bugrip® outsole is made from a special rubber compound and has 14-19 built-in steel studs. The attachments are made of carbide steel, which makes them extremely durable.. The design of the studs together with the properties of the rubber compound give these studs a dynamic function.. The pins work independently of each other and are not fully secured.. When weight is applied, the studs are pressed against the sole surface. How far they retract depends on the pressure applied by the user and the resistance of the ground..
