The Kishin Line is a 158km non-electrified line that runs from Himeji to Niimi via Kozuki and Tsuyama in Okayama Prefecture. The Kiha 122 series is a new series of diesel railcars that began operation in March 2009 as part of the Himeji-Shinan Line transport improvement work.It has an all-stainless steel body with dual driver's cabs and a front end made of ordinary steel with a design that follows the style of the 223 series, and operates in single or two-car formations (normally) on the section from Himeji to Kozuki.
