This is an expression of gratitude for the divine virtue of Amaterasu Omikami, the ancestral deity of the Imperial family, who "blesses all things with her divine light." The tokonoma is a place of purification and a spiritual space in the home. By hanging the divine name of Amaterasu Omikami there, a bright home filled with smiles will be created. The divine name embodies the teachings of the Grand Shrine, which are to "give life to everything, re-examine, listen to again, re-enact, and forgive with a harmonious heart," and it contains prayers and wishes for family safety, prosperity of business, development of the hometown, and ultimately, the prosperity and peace of the nation. Moriaki Arakida is a descendant of Amanomitori-no-Mikoto, who appears in the "Nihon Shoki" (Chronicles of Japan), and a former Shinto priest of the prestigious Ise Grand Shrine. He holds the privileged position of being able to respectfully inscribe the divine names, and the divine names he writes with all his heart and soul, imbued with divine virtue, are sought after by people from all over the country.
