This product is a medium-grit sharpening stone, equivalent to #1000, made with natural stone. It gently hones the edge of a dull knife, restoring it to a sharpness sufficient for everyday use. The #1000 grit is a “practical grade” that is easy for beginners to use, with the following characteristics: ・It is difficult to over-sharpen. ・You can easily feel the change in sharpness, making it an ideal grit for those using a sharpening stone for the first time. It can be used alone, or as a foundation for higher grits. For household knives, this sharpening stone alone will provide sufficient sharpness. It is also ideal as a preliminary sharpening or base grind before using higher grit stones such as #3000 or #5000.
