[What is red coral?] It is a type of coral that is collected in the seas near Japan, and is different from the coral that is collected in the Mediterranean Sea.There is always a white part called Shirofu in the center of the log, and we do our best to keep it on the surface. Although it is cut to prevent it from coming out, white parts often show up on the back side of balls and loose pieces. It has a sense of transparency, and when carefully polished, it has a beautiful luster, as if covered with a transparent film. The dark color is red with a slight purplish tinge, giving it a noble atmosphere. The most valuable type is the one with a particularly deep color, called blood red, and the area off the coast of Kochi Prefecture is especially rich.
[About precious coral]
In general, what is processed into jewelry and called coral is made by polishing the bone shafts produced by living creatures called corals. Corals are in the same family as jellyfish and sea anemones, and can be divided into hexagonal coralline and eight-type coralline subtypes, depending on the number of polyp tentacles. Eight corals are used as jewelry, but most of them are soft corals that do not have hard bones, and only some types are processed into jewelry. Coral takes many years to grow, so it may have been worn since ancient times as a symbol of longevity and healthy growth. Even overseas, coral is worn as a talisman for safe childbirth and for the growth of a child. In Japan, red coral is also given as a souvenir for the 35th wedding anniversary, and red coral is given as a 60th birthday celebration. Coral is the birthstone for March, so it makes a great birthday gift for those born in March.

Our shop is located in Kochi Prefecture, a world-famous coral production area.We are a workshop that carries out integrated production of coral, from procurement of logs to loose processing, and jewelry, from design to processing of precious metals. Coral is a gemstone created by nature, and it is difficult to make the same loose gemstone because the colors and shapes of the raw wood vary widely. Sometimes there are items with very beautiful color gradations that cannot be expressed in words or grade, and there are also items with beautiful shapes that cannot be created by human hands. These are also one of the charms of coral, a gem created by nature. Also, since it is a natural material, not only are the logs beautiful, but there are also many with scratches, but we try to process them without wasting them.
