This is a large jackfruit wood djembe drum with a low, grounded voice, made for rhythm that feels full in the hands and present in the room. The deeper Soul Sound tuning suits drum circles, performance practice, meditation spaces, and unhurried home playing where bass and pulse matter as much as speed.
Low, room-filling rhythm
The low voice gives the drum a broad, weighty character, especially when played with an open palm in the centre.
Edge strokes bring contrast, moving from rounded tones to sharper accents as your technique develops.
The taller shell and wider head give the sound more body than a small practice drum.
It feels like an instrument to gather around, steady enough for shared rhythm and expressive enough for solo practice.
The white playing head and dark cordwork create a clear stage presence without turning the drum into decoration only.
Built for hands-on playing
A djembe rewards simple beginnings. Start with three core strokes: bass in the centre with a relaxed flat palm, tone near the edge with fingers together, and slap near the edge with a looser, sharper hand.
The learning curve is part of the pleasure. Small changes in hand position, pressure, and release can change the voice of the drum.
Jackfruit wood shell and corded body
The shell is made from jackfruit wood, with dark polyester string lacing running down the bowl and around the head. The warm brown body is decorated with black line patterns, and the base is finished with a black rubber ring for a steadier contact with the floor.
The playing head is white and printed with the Soul Sound mark. The feel is best understood by playing it rather than by assuming a skin type.
How to care for the drum
Keep it in a dry, temperate room and avoid leaving it near radiators, damp floors, or strong changes in humidity. Wood and drum heads respond to their surroundings, so a steady environment helps the instrument stay more consistent.
