Civil War: America's Last Day (Standard Edition) [Blu-ray]

Synopsis

It could happen today.

What if America were divided and a civil war broke out right now?

A dystopian action film with A24's largest production budget ever and two consecutive weeks at number one in the US box office. A24, now dominating the world, has invested its largest production budget ever into "Civil War: America's Last Day," depicting a civil war in America. Directed by Alex Garland, who wrote the screenplay for "28 Days Later..." and achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 88th Academy Awards® for his feature film debut, "Ex Machina." This film, which topped the US box office for two consecutive weeks, sparked considerable controversy due to its timing coinciding with the US presidential election. It also generated significant buzz upon its release in Japan, topping the weekend box office rankings and receiving high praise, including winning the Excellent Foreign Film Award at the 48th Japan Academy Awards.

★The brilliant Alex Garland delivers a powerful warning about a divided America through compelling visuals and sound.

The film is directed and written by Alex Garland, the British genius who continues to shock the world with his original worldview and captivating visual expression in films such as "Ex Machina" and "Men." The premise of Texas and California forming an alliance may seem far-fetched, but through skillful plot development and an overwhelming sense of immersion that makes you feel the war at close range, the film pulls the story into a surprisingly realistic narrative as a possible "endpoint of division" that could happen today.

★The lead role of Lee is played by the acclaimed actress Kirsten Dunst, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Power of the Dog." She delicately portrays the subtle nuances of a war photographer whose strong spirit is slowly eroded in the face of America's collapse due to civil war. In contrast to this protagonist, Cailee Spaeny was cast as Jesse, a young photographer who undergoes a tragic growth as he crosses the line between life and death. Having won the Best Actress award at the Venice International Film Festival for "Priscilla," and starring in Ridley Scott's "Alien: Romulus," she is one of the most talked-about young actors today. Other talented actors supporting the main cast include Wagner Moura, who played Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series "Narcos," and Stephen McKinley Henderson, who has shown a unique presence in numerous works including "Dune."
