The design pays meticulous attention to every detail, from the balance of the lip plate's shape, size, and angle to guide the unique breath control required for the flute, to the easy-to-press and beautifully crafted keys.
The Yamaha YFL-212LRS is a step-up version of the YFL-212 standard student flute, featuring a sterling silver (Ag925) lip plate and riser—the part of the flute the airstream strikes first—for added depth and richness of tone beyond the standard model. It's equipped with an E-mechanism, a key system that makes it easier to produce a stable third-octave E, and comes with both a curved head joint for smaller players and a straight head joint, letting younger students play in a natural, unforced posture as they grow into the standard configuration.
Build quality features include closed (covered) keys with an offset-G layout, pointed key arms, and ergonomically shaped keys for comfortable playing, along with thickened key posts for durability and easily accessible adjustment screws. Drawn and curled tone holes and alignment marks on the foot joint support precise assembly and long-term reliability.
