How the double lock works opening?

To open the gate correctly, first press buttons 1 and 2 on both sides of the handle, and then move the handle down.

Pressing only buttons 1 or 2 does not release the lower latch.

Pressing buttons 1 and 2 only unlocks the upper part only when combined with moving the handle down does the gate fully open.
