It is mounted in place of the original gear stick / gear shifter. Short shifter doesn't mean that the shifter is shorter than OEM. It's specially designed to reduce the "Throw/Shifting Angle". Shortens the gear stick travel distance by up to 40% compared to the serial gear stick.

Installation Steps: 1. Pull the gear shift knob off. 2. Pull apart console and boot, unplug the wires. 3. Jack car up to pull the pin underneath. 4. Rotate bottom around to remove it. 5. Pop out the shifter assembly. 6. Install new shifter to gearbox.
