This activated silicon technology was originally conceived as a high-performance compound, but after intensive development in our Research and Development department in Korbach, a new, improved compound with outstanding grip and off-road properties was developed. This new rubber compound, aptly named 'PureGrip', slots right below our BlackChili compound and is used in our high performance products for both road and mountain bikes. It also provides excellent grip, but is also durable and very strong – both characteristics of Continental tyres, which are produced exclusively at the Hefei plant.. (Asia). The ShieldWall system combines an optimal combination of high puncture protection and low rolling resistance with low weight. This is made possible by an additional puncture protection layer around the entire perimeter, which consists of a finely woven cross-woven fabric. This gives the tyre high resistance to punctures and damage. Despite the additional layer, the tyre has very good damping properties and a high degree of flexibility for ideal adaptation to the ground.
