This Buddhist statue was supervised by the great sculptor Hokari Kodo, who also created the 18 shaku Acala statue at Naritasan Fukagawa Fudo Hall. Crafted from plain wood with a beautiful luster and excellent durability, each statue is meticulously crafted with attention to detail. As proof of his supervision, the bottom of the statue bears the red seal of Hokari Kodo. This is a masterpiece carved from a single piece of wood.

◆Key points of the Buddha statue supervised by the great Buddhist sculptor Hokari Koudou◆
<A gentle and calm face>
The Buddha's peaceful, warm and gentle gaze gives you a sense of relief.
Her beautiful, slender eyebrows and narrow eyes, reminiscent of a new moon, also exude a noble dignity.
The mudra of the Dainichi Nyorai statue is the wisdom fist mudra, in which the index finger of the left hand is raised and wrapped around the index finger with the right hand.
It represents the elimination of all worldly desires and ignorance and the wisdom of Buddha (the highest enlightenment).
<Halo representing the Buddha's halo>
The Buddha radiates a beam of light from his body and is always surrounded by light.
This light is expressed by a halo, and the halo of the Dainichi Nyorai statue is a flame halo.
As you can imagine from its shape, the flame halo is carved with a burning flame and a large sun within it.
The halo represents Dainichi Nyorai, the king of all Buddhas.
<Base that shows off the craftsmanship>
The base of the Buddha statue is a lotus seat, carved with a full-bloomed lotus flower.
The lotus flower, which grows out of muddy water and blooms into a beautiful, pure flower, is considered a symbol of the wisdom and compassion of Buddha.
In order to express the curved petals (hanbana), a technique called "fukirenga" is used to carefully attach each petal one by one, creating a beautiful, three-dimensional base.
