In other substances it forms a pleasant suspension. Action. Azelaic acid is a natural carboxylic compound, commonly found in plants, e.g. in cereal grains. It regulates many "semi-metabolic" processes in the human body, including inhibiting the secretion of sebum and sweat on the facial skin (acne!!!), lightening discolorations, evening out skin tone, and inhibiting the formation of new pigmentation lesions. It can slow down the keratinization processes of the epidermis, meaning it simply reduces the skin's tendency to keratinize. Unlike other acids, it generally does not cause irritation, and allergic reactions to this ingredient are rare. Application Azelaic acid comes in powder form and is not suitable for application directly to the skin. The recommended concentration in cosmetic products is 1-20%, even 25%. In brightening products or creams for acne or oily skin, a concentration of 2-8% is sufficient; higher concentrations are used in chemical peel products. The product dissolves very poorly in water, much more readily in hot water, glycol, and alcohol. It can also be added to a cream base (it is best to dissolve it in glycol or vegetable glycol first). When working with powdered acid, wear respiratory protection (the beloved mask) and protect your eyes. Storage. Store at room temperature, in a shaded place, and protect from moisture.
